A miniature timelapse video of Norway and Iceland, two of my favourite countries to enjoy nature during roadtrips and hiking.

Most parts are recorded in summer 2013. Prior to my trip to Norway I did not really have a plan for a movie. I visited Norway twice before and this time I wanted to go to some places I didnt see before like Geiranger, Atlanterhavsveien and Trollstigen. Along the way I shot some timelapse videos of the fjords. Once I arrived in Geiranger I really enjoyed watching the hustle and bustle down the fjord. Ferries sailing back and forth through the fjords, kayak cruises arriving and departing and cars crawling up and down the steep roads. I liked the idea of portraying Norway as a cute little world while it’s known for it’s large scale nature and remote landscapes.

A lot of people asked how I achieved the miniature effect. Obviously there is the tempo, everything is about 4 times as fast as normal speed. I have also added depth of field in post production. If you focus on an object close to the camera the background gets blurry and when you focus in the distance everything is sharp. Normally all of the images you see above would be sharp but with the blur effects added it almost looks like it's a really small setting right in front of you.

Finally the added sound effects of toy race cars and people chattering and splashing finish it of. I actually recorded a blender in water to mymic the sound of the little boats by the cruiseship.
